Framingham Risk Score (10-Year Hard CHD)
Point-based 10-year risk of hard coronary heart disease (angina not included in “hard” endpoints in original tables). Uses published ATP III / Framingham worksheet: total cholesterol bands depend on age decade; diabetes is not added as points (ATP III treats diabetes as a CHD risk equivalent separately).
Calculator
How it works
This calculator applies the sex-specific point tables used in widely taught Framingham / ATP III worksheets: five-year age groups for age and smoking points, decade-stratified total cholesterol points, HDL points, and different systolic blood pressure scoring for treated vs untreated hypertension. Total points map to a 10-year probability of hard CHD.
Limits
Validated primarily in US White and Black cohorts; may misestimate risk in many global populations. Does not include diabetes in the point sum (manage as CHD risk equivalent per historical ATP III). Prior CHD, stroke, and statin decisions require broader context. This page is for education—not for automated treatment thresholds.
