Oxygenation Index (OI)
Uses mean airway pressure (cm H₂O), FiO2 (fraction or %), and PaO2 (mmHg).
Calculator
How it works
Oxygenation index combines mean airway pressure, inspired oxygen fraction, and arterial oxygen tension to summarize oxygenation efficiency on mechanical ventilation in teaching models.
OI = (MAPaw × FiO2) / PaO2 × 100 (FiO2 as decimal fraction)
Notes
Does not replace P/F ratio, OI variants used in trials, or clinical ECMO criteria. Ensure MAPaw and PaO2 are from the same time point.
