How it works
PELD combines cholestasis (bilirubin), synthetic dysfunction (INR), nutrition (albumin), and pediatric-specific modifiers. It is recalibrated periodically by allocation policy bodies.
Limits
Exceptions, exception points, split liver, and diagnostic-specific rules are not modeled. Not for patients ≥12 (MELD/MELD-Na teaching instead).
Educational tool only—not for diagnosis or treatment decisions.
