Funktionsweise
SIRS was part of earlier sepsis definitions. Contemporary ED and ICU care more often integrates infection suspicion, organ dysfunction (SOFA), and bedside scores such as qSOFA.
Grenzen
Athletes, pregnancy, dialysis, β-blockers, and chronic ventilation can distort individual vitals without infection.
