How it works
The HEART score was developed to stratify patients with suspected acute coronary syndrome presenting with chest pain in the emergency setting. It combines clinical suspicion, ECG, age, atherosclerotic risk burden, and troponin elevation magnitude.
Limits
Troponin timing (serial testing), high-sensitivity assay kinetics, renal failure, paced rhythms, and bundled pathways (e.g., HEART Pathway with repeat testing) are not fully modeled here. Definitions of “risk factors” require local consistency.
