Spot Urine Protein/Creatinine Ratio
Enter random urine protein and creatinine in mg/dL. Ratio (mg/mg ≈ g/g) = protein ÷ creatinine. Rough 24h protein excretion estimate (mg/day) ≈ ratio × 1000 for adult teaching shortcuts—confirm with local laboratory reporting.

How it works
The protein-to-creatinine ratio from a spot sample is widely taught as a surrogate for timed collections when creatinine excretion is relatively stable.
Limits
The ×1000 mg/day shortcut is not validated for every body size, GFR, or muscle mass; pediatric and cachectic patients need different approaches. Does not replace quantification by 24h collection when required.
