Blood cultures positive for typical organisms from two separate cultures, or persistently positive cultures Evidence of endocardial involvement: positive echocardiogram for vegetation, abscess, or new partial dehiscence of prosthetic valve, OR new valvular regurgitation Single positive blood culture or serologic evidence of active infection with organism consistent with IE but not meeting major #1

Predisposing heart condition or injection drug use Fever ≥38.0°C (100.4°F) Vascular phenomenon (arterial emboli, septic pulmonary infarcts, mycotic aneurysm, etc.) Immunologic phenomenon (glomerulonephritis, Osler nodes, Roth spots, rheumatoid factor, etc.) Microbiologic evidence not meeting major criterion
