Parkland Formula for Burns
Classic crystalloid estimate for major burn resuscitation (teaching).
Calculator
How it works
The Parkland formula estimates isotonic crystalloid for the first 24 hours after burn injury as 4 mL × body weight (kg) × percent TBSA burned.
Total LR in first 24 h ≈ 4 × weight_kg × TBSA_% First 8 hours: ≈ one-half of the 24-hour total (from time of injury in classic teaching)
Cautions
Electrical injury, inhalation injury, delayed resuscitation, and pediatric rules may require different volumes; consult burn center and local protocol.
